Design Story

The composition is strictly symmetrical: a crowned arch carries a small skull and the single word Welcome, framed by draped crimson curtains gathered with heavy tasselled cords. Beneath them, a dark backdrop of gabled rooftops, a crescent moon and scattered stars gives depth to the shallow stage. At the centre sits a stitched harlequin puppet \Uffffffff button eyes, a sewn smile, a pale ruffled collar and striped legs that spill past the plank floor and break the border line. That single deviation is the design's tension: everything else obeys the frame, and the dangling strings pull the eye upward to a puppeteer who is never shown. The palette stays muted \Uffffffff oxblood, moss, ochre, soot \Uffffffff so the pale face reads as the brightest point on the mat.

Entryway & Styling

On a rectangular doormat the arch and curtain sweep resolve into a natural top edge, while the scalloped skirt and pumpkin medallions close the lower border. Seen from standing height, the central motif holds scale at threshold distance, and the legs crossing the edge give the piece a deliberate three-dimensional illusion at the doorway.
