Design Story

The composition divides cleanly along a curve: an ornate iron gate sweeps from the upper right down to the lower edge, splitting the disc into two moods. On the left, a carved pumpkin sits low and forward, its glowing eyes and grin acting as the only warm source in the image and the anchor for the viewer's attention. Above it, a crescent moon and bare branches open the negative space, while the right side recedes into a gothic silhouette of spires, lantern light and a wet stone path. The plaque reading CRESCENT PUMPKIN ESTATE is set at optical centre, its raised-looking lettering giving the scene a name and a threshold. Amber, ivory and rust-toned leaves keep the palette restrained; the tension comes from warmth pressing against darkness, not from motion.
