Design Story

The focal panel is a black-and-white striped shield flanked by two seahorses under a castle-topped helm, with NEWCASTLE UNITED lettered on a ribbon beneath it. That medallion sits inside a jewelled oval ring, and a gold-edged banner sweeps diagonally across the lower third carrying the club name and a small 1892 roundel. Around it, filigree scrollwork, faux-gem borders and a repeating castle emblem fill the negative space without crowding the centre. What makes it work is hierarchy: crest first, banner second, ornament last. The strict black, silver and gold palette keeps that layered detail readable instead of noisy, and the vertical striping at the base quietly echoes the shirt.

Use & Experience

On a tall tumbler silhouette the composition earns its keep. The crest lands at eye level on the front-facing panel, the diagonal banner follows the taper toward the base, and the wraparound scrollwork means there is no dead side. Handle and straw sit clear of the artwork, so the graphic reads whole from any angle on a desk or a matchday counter.
